Her First Happy Meal

We took Reece to McDonalds today to get her first Happy Meal. I was obsessed with McDonalds as a child. So, this adventure was more for me really than her. When I told Matt I wanted to take her he said, "Sure you want to go right here to the one in Walmart?" NO! Are you kidding this is a rite of passage--- a very first----and no it can not be the one on Congress either that is connected to a gas station. It as to be the real deal. With that said we loaded up, camera in hand of course and headed out. I now have 2 questions---- 1) When did they stop putting the Happy Meals in the "golden arches" boxes? 2) Why were there no cookies in her Happy Meal Bag--- help me out with this one. Do they not do that anymore or did our lady just forget to drop them in the bag? Don't get me wrong, we had fun and will defintely be returning but the question of the disappearing cookies still remains. We are going to visit my parents this weekend and I am hoping that my parents will take Reece to the park and to "my" McDonalds---- the one I was obsessed with as a child..(hint hint mom)In the meantime here are a few pictures of my cutie loving her very first Happy Meal!

Tasty Tuesday Treats

I love to cook. I can't help it. It is in my blood. I have a huge family and we all cook and bake. Every Tuesday I plan on posting a treat. During the summer I want to do quick cool desserts but I may switch it up here and there. So, if you have a request let me know. I have some favorites in mind and plan on going through the many many under-used cookbooks I have to find new favorites. Leave me a comment either here or e-mail me and let me know what you think.

Cherry Cream Cheese Pie


1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened
½ cup sugar
2 cups cool whip, thawed
1 graham cracker crust
1 can cherry pie filling

Beat cream cheese and sugar until creamy. Blend in cool whip. Pour into graham cracker crust. Top with 1 cup canned cherry pie filling. Chill at least 3 hours before serving.

Food + Fun + Friends = A Wonderful Memorial Day

We had a great day today. Our friends Joey, Joan, Jessie, and Ellie came over today. The guys grilled hotdogs left over from Reece's birthday party (we froze them) and the little ones played in the pool. Ollie was glad to have Ellie to play with. He has been so sad since Bella moved to her retirement home. Bella, by the way I hear has been having a blast playing in the water sprinklers. I tried out a new Summer dessert and it was pretty yummy..... you want the recipe, I know you do.... well, come back tomorrow for a soon to be favorite feature on this blog! In the mean time here are some pictures from today. Now I am off to give Reece a bath and get her to bed before the season premire of "John and Kate Plus 8." And for the record I have been a huge fan of the show for a long time, not just since the tabloids starting telling lies about them.

My Very First Post

Hi There,

Welcome to my blog. I have been thinking about doing this for a long time but just never did it. I guess I was afraid that I would not have enough to say or at least nothing that anyone else would find interesting. But I got over that and here we are. Reece has her own website where I post her pictures and I have a facebook page that I never get on but I really wanted something where I could share my thoughts and ideas. I hope to use this blog to do just that as well as show my creative side and keep everyone updated on my family's adventures. I would love to be able to post once a day but I know that is not going to happen so for now, I am shooting for once a week.
